Regular physical activity and sport forms an important aspect of life at Abbots Bromley School. We promote the ethos of inclusivity within the sporting sphere while also nurturing and challenging the competitive element of sport when appropriate.
Within curriculum lessons and enrichment experiences, we aim to develop each student's skills and understanding of specific sports. Students are encouraged to enjoy sport and achieve to the best of their ability whilst using the opportunity to enhance their life skills in areas such as team work, resilience, cooperation and leadership.
We offer a great variety of sporting experiences supported by a dedicated team of specialist sport teachers and coaches. PE and Games lessons are taught on a weekly basis to all students from Kindergarten to Year 13. Students are encouraged to use sport to stretch their ability levels, develop their physical, mental and social health and to participate in new experiences.
All the traditional team sports are offered at the School and the sporting traditions of Abbots Bromley remain in place. It is also possible for students to try alternative sports including trampolining, gymnastics, rugby, swimming, basketball, cricket and ultimate Frisbee as part of their sporting experiences. Qualified members of staff are always on hand to share their experiences and enthusiasm for sport with students.
Each year, our students give some truly exceptional sporting performances both in and out of school. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and determination which sees many teams and individuals across the ages and disciplines securing regional and national accolades. Recent success has been gained in sports as diverse as hockey and trampolining (regional level) and swimming and athletics (national level).
Our sporting facilities are excellent. We have a 25 yard, 6 lane swimming pool, a sand based astro-turf for hockey, extensive grass based fields, a sports hall, a trampolining room and from a new fitness centre and squash court.
Students experience a broad and balanced physical experience within PE and Games lessons and fixtures are played against local schools from Staffordshire and Derbyshire in addition to regular regional events organised through the Independent Schools' Association.
